Life as a Birth Photographer...

I just LOVE the experience of birth, to some that might sound a little crazy but if I learnt anything with each of my five labours, its that with each one I became more empowered and simply in awe of what are capable of!

My latest client was inspirational, I sincerely mean that.

Initially we have a consultation, talk over your questions and decide if we are a good fit for each other, at the end of the day there needs to be a mutual understanding and liking, especially if your going to consider inviting me into your birth space!

I will be on call 24/7 for a three week period around your estimated due date, during this time my priority is getting to you when the call comes!

I will keep in touch and once active labour begins I will be there with bells on! figuratively speaking.. not literally. ( who knows, someone might expect bells? )

Once I get there I plan to be invisible, not sit my ass down in a bowl of iced water as I'm trying to get the money shot. And I definitely won't yell oh Shit! in the process...

Accident's happen but luckily my awesome clients and their birth team saw the funny side :)

All in All, for three weeks my phone was by my side, day and night, just waiting on the call! waking every morning jumping for my phone to make sure I didn't sleep through it.

I love the excitement though, I love being spontaneous and although I need routine I like that the boundaries of routine are blurred in this role. I know I will be documenting a birth within a certain time frame just not sure when!

And a little piece of each birth experience stays with you.

Within the next three weeks I work on your birth story, reliving each moment with each image, but first things first, everyone needs a beautiful image for their birth announcement!

I hope you Love this image as much as I do.

Get in touch with any questions you may have about birth photography, I would love to chat with you. Due to the commitment of time to this role I can currently only commit to six per year so spaces are very limited.
